Bio

Stephanie has practiced genetic counseling in academic, private, and industry settings for over 15 years. She has worked in clinical research programs, various outreach genetics clinics, and helped establish the first Adult Genetics Clinic at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Stephanie is particularly interested in genetics education, providing various lectures to medical school students, genetic counseling students, and faculty, and currently teaches a semester long course "Psychosocial Genetic Counseling" to second year GC students at the University of Maryland. Her experience in industry includes working for Everly Health (formerly PWNHealth), where she provided patient consultations via telemedicine for a wide variety of indications, including cancer, cardiovascular, supplemental newborn screening, WES, and pharmacogenetics. She also served as the clinical lead for carrier screening, supplemental newborn screening, and general genetics. Most recently, she has returned to academia and joined the University of Maryland School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor and Program Director for the My Healthy Maryland Precision Medicine Research initiative. In addition to being a member of NSGC, she is also an active member with the Maryland and DC Society of Genetic Counselors (MDCGC).
