Bio

After graduating from Northwestern's Graduate Program in Genetic Counseling, I started my career as a full time clinical pediatric genetic counselor at Rush Medical Center in Chicago. There, I worked with two geneticists to see a variety of pediatric genetic indications. I also staffed a weekly adult cardiology clinic, where I saw patients for cardiovascular disease, cardiomyopathies, and arrhythmias.

After about a year and a half, I left Rush to take a position as a full time laboratory genetic counselor at Lurie Children's. There, I provide variant interpretation and report writing for a handful of NGS panels that the hospital offers. I also act as a liaison between the lab and the clinical teams, participate in research projects, and am involved in gene curation and the development of new sequencing panels. Additionally, I now see patients in a comprehensive cardiology heart failure clinic approximately twice a month to keep my clinical skills sharp.

I have spent the last two years of my genetic counseling career settling into the field, gaining confidence in my skills, and adapting to two very different job settings. Moving forward, I am looking to further define my long term plan and determine how to better carve out my niche in this field.

Outside of genetic counseling, I enjoy baking, devouring novels, cheering on the Loyola men's basketball team, and crying at videos of cute puppies online.
